Time in College Years
The bells ran out over the commons, telling all the students another fifteen minutes had passed. Most of the kids didn’t notice the sound as they followed the paths from one old brick ivy covered building to another. The couple sitting on the bench didn’t notice the small baby bird, not taller than the grass he was navigating through. There were groups of recent high school graduates following a backward walking person who tells the story of how the criss-crossing paths were designed simply by paving over the paths the students had already worn in the grass.
Time was moving at its own pace here. Slowly for a while then racing till the next time it decided to rest. Stop and start. Stop and start.
